How to Disable Online Mode on Your FernHost Server
Only do this if you understand the security risks, offline mode disables Mojang account authentication and makes it easier for players to impersonate others.
1. Stop your server
Before changing online mode, always stop the server so the setting saves correctly.
- Log in to your FernHost panel.
- Open the server you want to edit.
- Click the Stop button and wait until the status shows that the server is fully stopped.
2. Open the Properties tab
- In the left sidebar, scroll to the Management section.
- Click Properties.
- Wait for the list of Minecraft server properties to load (you should see toggles like PvP, Whitelist, Online Mode, etc.).
3. Turn off Online Mode
- Find the setting labeled Online Mode on the right side of the Properties page.
- Click the toggle so that it changes from Enabled (green) to Disabled (gray).
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes to apply your changes.
Your server is now configured to run in offline mode.
4. Start your server again
- Go back to the Console or Dashboard tab.
- Click Start to boot the server.
- Once it is online, cracked/offline clients will be able to join.
5. Important security notes
When running in offline mode:
- Anyone can join using any username, including staff names.
- It is strongly recommended to protect your server behind a proxy (like BungeeCord/Velocity with online mode enabled on the proxy) or use an auth plugin (e.g. /login system) to secure player accounts.
- Avoid using offline mode on large public servers without extra protection.
Would you like a second short page that explains “online mode vs offline mode” for players, or one that explains how to secure an offline‑mode server (auth plugins / proxy setup)?
