How to Connect to SFTP on FernHost
This guide teaches you how to connect to SFTP on your server.
1. Open Your Server in the Panel
- Log in to the FernHost panel.
- Click on the server you want to manage.
2. Find Your SFTP Connection Details
- In the left sidebar, click Settings.
- Then in the middle of your screen, click the SFTP Access button.
- You will now see your:
- SFTP Host
- Port
- Username
- Any other required details
Keep this page open while you set up your SFTP client.
3. Connect Using an SFTP Client (Example: FileZilla)
- Open your SFTP client (e.g. FileZilla, WinSCP, or any other).
- Create a new connection/site and enter:
- Host: the SFTP host from the panel
- Port: the SFTP port from the panel
- Username: the SFTP username from the panel
- Password: your panel account password (unless otherwise specified)
- Make sure the protocol is set to SFTP (not FTP).
- Click Connect.
4. Uploading and Managing Files
Once connected:
- Drag and drop files from your computer into the server’s directory.
- Edit, rename, or delete files as needed.
- Avoid changing files you do not recognize, as it may break your server.
5. Troubleshooting
- Connection refused / timeout
- Double‑check the host, port, and username from the SFTP Access page.
- Authentication failed
- Make sure you are using your panel login password.
